thombrowne13Seriously, how cool was that collection? White Lining and Gold Buttoning. Timeless designs with a modern approach. The polka dot theme add a beautiful Comme des Garcons vibe to the collection. Perfect collection. The photos were shot by Tommy Ton backstage at the show. They are all genuine – nothing staged, just hanging around before the show starts. Relive 2010 Thom Browne through this coverage and share your thoughts on the collection below.

Do’s and Dont’s in Street Style

15[3]

Grab your notebook, listen and learn. Tommy Ton breaks it down for you – do’s and dont’s in Street Style.

DO: Get Fit
“You know when a guy understands how to wear clothes really well. When someone’s wearing something really ill-fitting, you know they don’t.”

DON’T: Raid Your Girlfriend’s Wardrobe
“I don’t like really, really skin-tight jeans.”

DO: Try Something New
“It’s cool to see individuals take risks, but wear it in their own way.”

DON’T: Let Your Feet Fail You
“I don’t like garish sneakers. When your shoes outshine your entire outfit, that’s the worst.”

DO: Master the Details
“I love finding subtle details, like a hidden monogram under a collar, or a color combination that makes you look twice.”

DON’T: Spoil the Arm Party
“Too many bracelets are a no.”

DO: Get Cozy
“I like seeing guys at ease, not constrained by the idea of having to wear a suit and tie all the time.”

DON’T: Catch Pneumonia
“Any time a shirt is unbuttoned 2-3 buttons, and it’s freezing cold outside? I mean, really?”

DO: Dive Into Your Closet
“You can see grail or ‘it’ items on anyone. I like when people pull things out of their closet.”

DON’T: Let Your Mink Drag on the Floor
“A fur collar is fine, but for men, there’s no need to be wearing a full fur coat.”

DO: Look East, Young Man
“The Japanese bring it. Everybody feels comfortable enough to dress the way they want to. When was the last time you saw a man wearing a beret?”

DON’T: Bother the Photographers
“The best subjects have no interest in being photographed, they’re just doing their job.” (more…)

TAKE MY PICTURE

STREET. This definitely is a must see. Very intelligent and insightful piece by garage magazine about this topic. “When we set out to make this short, our intention simply was to observe the phenomenon of fashion bloggers and street style stars. As we started to review the footage, two salient trends became apparent: fashion editors frustrated by the ensuing commotion outside of shows, and the rise of “peacocking” street style stars as a result of the proliferation of blogs. This film examines these themes from both perspectives.”

“The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will be.”
Bill Cunningham

Tommy Ton’s 10

racked.com copy

Tommy Ton, the god of street style, breaks it down for four-pins. The most stylish men in the world according to the master-capturer himself. This is a very agreeable list, and of course, the based badass Nick Wooster is in it. Be aware, this is not a ranking, it’s just a list.

1. Nick Wooster

“What can I say about Nick? He is a badass. He is a sartorial wizard and is fearless in his wardrobe choices. I love how Nick loves to try and incorporate different styles into his look, but always knows exactly what works for his shape and body. If anybody deserves the title of the King of Cool, it’s the one and only Woost God.”

2. Stefano Pilati

“Stefano Pilati is the epitome of elegance. He has such a precise sense of fit and proportion that only he can pull off so many different silhouettes. The first time I saw him in person was on the street in Paris. I was walking, munching on my ham and cheese baguette, and he strolled past me in an oversize red swing coat. My mouth dropped open and I froze. Not pulling out my camera and taking his photo at that moment is one of my biggest regrets. I would get hit by ongoing traffic just to get the chance to photograph him.”

3. Sam Lambert

“From his hats down to his shoes, Sam is always on point. There’s never a moment where he looks out of place and every inch of what he’s wearing is perfectly tailored and selected based on the right shade and fabrication. With an early upbringing in tailoring and years of mastering Savile Row, Sam knows exactly how to look swagged out without ever looking like all those try-hard peacocks that parade around him. Here’s a professional street style tip: Standing next to Sam is a guarantee that you’ll suddenly look snap-worthy.” (more…)

UOMO. Second drop of Photos from the streets of Florence… (more…)

On the Streets of Pitti Uomo – or – The camouflage is still on.

PITTI. It’s fashion time again. WIth London Collections: Men finished yesterday the world of fashion has put his eyes on Florence, Firenze. The Pitti Uomo fashion festival is all about well cut suits and gentleman fashion. It’s not like there are only british gentlemen around, it’s all kinds of gentleman fashion colliding. The italian, the french and the british. Tommy Ton, like every year, went over there to spot whats hot on the streets. Tweed is the trending thing. Cool scottish like decent patterns are what to wear right now, just look on Nick Wooster, he is the most avantgarde one. And there is one other thing i was wondering about, is camouflage still on? Looking at the styles of London Collections: Men I would’ve said: No, this one is over. But the people at Pitti ( and I give more about their opinions than on the opinions of London guys) are still wearing camo as if it was just yesterday that it got trending. We will see some more camo in 2013 i guess then. Pitti Uomo – far the best fashion event every year.

Tommy Ton Backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012

No introduction needed for this one. Tommy Ton went backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012. This years show featured Justin Bieber and Rihanna, and Alessandra Ambrosio got to wear the 2.5 Mio $ Bra. These pictures are great, of course, because Tommy shot them. But iam not liking the way the VS fashion show is changing, I’ve read an article on The Cut about this year’s VS fashion show, and looking back, at the start it was a minimalistic fashion show, with a capital of 120.000 $ for the show. Today the budget is around 12 Mio $ and it’s just way too much. It’s not bad though, but it’s not a real fashion show to me anymore but of course it’s unique. But anyway Tommy hasn’t the worst life, has he? via Style.com (more…)
