It’s been a long time since we actually followed Takashi Murakami‘s exhibition, because we felt it was always the same and the artist was evolving only slowly. Wrong thought. The new pieces of the tokyo born artist of course have the same style and the same motives like the years before, but the way the artworks are composed and the new gold statues are so futuristic. The following pictures are of two exhibitions, the “ARHAT” at Blum & Poe Gallery in Los Angeles and at the Gallery Perrotin Hong Kong.

Murakami at Versailles

VERSAILLES. Most interesting setting for this kind of art ever. I remember there was a lot going on in Paris in that time, people hated to see manga art in the holy chambers. But in the end I think we can agree that this was a important point in pop manga art history. I can’t stop looking at the picture above, the poppy colours play so well with the baroque ceiling. The Art is not only the sculptures, the whole room melts to a gigantic piece of art. This is classic. Murakami at Versailles recap back from 2010 by Karl Hab and Purple Magazine. Featuring Uffie and Pharrell.

VERSAILLES. (more…)
